AWS S3
Storage
S3 buckets with scoped keys, set up from Rocketeers.
Storage
Buckets for backups and uploads, with scoped keys and a file browser.
Amazon S3 is the object storage service most other storage products copy. It holds uploads, backups and static assets for a huge share of the web. Rocketeers takes away the IAM policy writing that usually comes with it, so a site can get its own bucket and credentials in a few clicks.
What you get with AWS S3
- Buckets created in the region you pick, straight from Rocketeers.
- Scoped access keys per bucket, so each site only reaches its own files.
- CORS rules configured for you, ready for direct browser uploads.
- A file browser in Rocketeers to look through, upload and remove objects.
- Credentials that drop straight into your application's environment.
How the integration works
Create an IAM user with permission to manage S3 buckets and IAM access keys, generate an access key pair and add the Access Key ID and Secret Access Key to Rocketeers, with an optional default region. When you create a bucket, Rocketeers sets it up through the S3 API, creates a key limited to that bucket and applies the CORS rules you need. The file browser uses the same connection, so you can check what a site has stored without opening the AWS console.
Good to know
- S3 is its own provider in Rocketeers, separate from AWS servers and DNS, so you can use a dedicated IAM user with storage permissions only.
- Storage and transfer are billed by AWS directly on your account. Rocketeers never resells storage.
- You can revoke any scoped key from Rocketeers or from IAM without touching the others.
AWS S3 stays your account, on your bill. Rocketeers, the control panel for your own cloud, connects to it with your own credentials.
