Your own server

Servers

Bring any server you can reach over SSH.

Servers

Create, provision and manage servers on your own account, with root access and secure defaults.

  1. What you get with your own server
  2. How the integration works
  3. Good to know

Not every server lives at a provider Rocketeers has an integration for. Maybe you have a VPS at a local host, a dedicated machine in a rack, or a server at a cloud you prefer to manage yourself. As long as Rocketeers can reach it over SSH, it can manage it like any other server.

What you get with your own server

  • Any server you can reach over SSH, wherever it is hosted.
  • The same stack as every other Rocketeers server: web server, PHP, database and firewall installed and maintained for you.
  • Deployments, monitoring and updates from the same dashboard.
  • No API keys needed, since nothing is created at a provider.

How the integration works

Add the server to Rocketeers with its IP address and make sure Rocketeers can log in over SSH. Rocketeers then connects, installs and configures the stack, after which you can add sites and deploy as usual. All management happens over that SSH connection, so the server can live at any host, in any datacenter or in your own rack.

Good to know

  • Rocketeers cannot create, delete or resize this server, because it has no access to your provider account. Do that at your host, and Rocketeers keeps managing what runs on it.
  • Start from a fresh install. A server that already runs other software may clash with the stack Rocketeers installs.
  • Your host bills you as before. Rocketeers only manages the software on the machine.

Your own server stays your account, on your bill. Rocketeers, the control panel for your own cloud, connects to it with your own credentials.
