  3. Good to know

DigitalOcean made cloud servers approachable for developers, with clear plans, a clean dashboard and an API that is pleasant to work with. Rocketeers builds on that. Bring a DigitalOcean API token and you get Droplets that are provisioned, secured and configured for production, plus DNS records managed next to the sites that use them.

What you get with DigitalOcean

  • Droplets created, resized and deleted from Rocketeers in the region of your choice.
  • A complete stack with web server, PHP, database and firewall installed and maintained for you.
  • DigitalOcean DNS records managed from Rocketeers, so pointing a domain at a server is part of the same flow.
  • Your own account and team, so existing credits and billing stay as they are.

How the integration works

Generate a personal access token with read and write scope under API in the DigitalOcean control panel and add it to Rocketeers. Rocketeers then creates Droplets through the DigitalOcean API, adds your SSH keys, configures the firewall and installs the stack. Updates, monitoring and deployments run through Rocketeers afterwards, while the Droplet remains visible in your DigitalOcean dashboard like any other. For DNS, Rocketeers reads and writes records on domains in your DigitalOcean account, so new sites get their records without a trip to another dashboard.

Good to know

  • Tokens belong to a DigitalOcean team. If you work with several teams, add a token for each one.
  • Spaces object storage is a separate provider in Rocketeers with its own access keys.
  • DigitalOcean bills you directly. Rocketeers never resells servers.

DigitalOcean stays your account, on your bill. Rocketeers, the control panel for your own cloud, connects to it with your own credentials.
