Hetzner Spaces
Storage
S3 compatible object storage in Hetzner datacenters.
Storage
Buckets for backups and uploads, with scoped keys and a file browser.
Hetzner Object Storage brings S3 compatible buckets to the same European datacenters that run Hetzner Cloud servers. For sites already hosted on Hetzner it keeps uploads and backups close to the application and on the same invoice. Rocketeers connects to it with a pair of S3 credentials and handles the bucket work for you.
What you get with Hetzner Spaces
- Buckets created and deleted from Rocketeers in the location you choose.
- An S3 compatible endpoint, so any library or framework that speaks S3 works without changes.
- Bucket credentials ready to place in your application's environment.
- Storage that lives next to your Hetzner Cloud servers.
How the integration works
In the Hetzner Console, open your project and generate S3 credentials for Object Storage. Add the access key and secret key to Rocketeers, optionally with a default location such as fsn1. Rocketeers then uses the S3 API at Hetzner's endpoint to list, create and remove buckets, and hands you the connection details a site needs. Because the service follows the S3 protocol, your code treats it exactly like any other S3 bucket.
Good to know
- Hetzner Spaces is separate from the Hetzner server and DNS provider, because Object Storage uses its own S3 credentials rather than the Cloud API token.
- Credentials are created per project in Hetzner, so use the project that matches your servers.
- Hetzner bills storage and traffic directly on your account. Rocketeers never resells storage.
Hetzner Spaces stays your account, on your bill. Rocketeers, the control panel for your own cloud, connects to it with your own credentials.
